Program Description
Oregon Psilocybin Facilitator Training Program
AAA Learning Institute
This program is a postsecondary educational training program designed to prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required under Oregon Administrative Rules for psilocybin facilitator education.
The program consists of didactic instruction, supervised learning activities, and a required in-person practicum, delivered through a combination of live online instruction, asynchronous coursework, and practicum placement at a licensed Oregon psilocybin service center.
Completion of this program does not itself grant licensure. Graduates must separately apply to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) for facilitator licensure and meet all applicable state requirements.

All instructional hours are delivered in alignment with Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS) training requirements.
Curriculum Overview
Orientation & Program Foundations (2 hours – live online)
Introduction to program expectations, learning outcomes, student responsibilities, and regulatory framework.
Historical, Traditional, and Contemporary Contexts (12 hours – 6 live / 6 self-paced)
Study of historical, traditional, and contemporary uses of psilocybin within cultural, legal, and academic contexts, including the impact of U.S. drug policy on research and practice.
Pharmacology, Neuroscience, and Clinical Research (4 hours – 2 live / 2 self-paced)
Foundational instruction in pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, contraindications, drug interactions, and relevant clinical research.
Core Facilitation Skills (16 hours – 8 live / 8 self-paced)
Development of professional facilitation skills including communication, consent, trauma-informed care, boundaries, risk recognition, and appropriate response strategies.
Group Facilitation (16 hours – 8 live / 8 self-paced)
Instruction on group dynamics, screening considerations, set and setting, facilitation agreements, regulatory considerations, and integration planning.
Equity, Culture, and Ethics (12 hours – 6 live / 6 self-paced)
Exploration of cultural humility, equity considerations, historical harm, ethical decision-making, professional conduct, and referral responsibilities.
Safety, Ethics, and Professional Responsibilities (12 hours – 6 live / 6 self-paced)
Focus on ethical practice, documentation, confidentiality, risk mitigation, harm reduction principles, and professional accountability.
Client Preparation & Orientation (16 hours – 8 live / 8 self-paced)
Training in client screening, informed consent, preparation conversations, safety planning, and scope-appropriate support.
Administration Principles (20 hours – 10 live / 10 self-paced)
Educational instruction on administration protocols, session flow, environmental considerations, client support, and professional safety.
This instruction is educational and does not authorize independent practice.
Integration Principles (12 hours – 6 live / 6 self-paced)
Instruction on post-session integration principles, client support strategies, and appropriate referrals.
Required In-Person Practicum (40 hours)
The practicum is a required, separate component of the program and is completed at an Oregon-licensed psilocybin service center.

Supervision: All hours are supervised and documented in accordance with OPS requirements

Licensure: Students must obtain a $25 OPS Service Worker Permit prior to practicum participation

Important: Students do not consume psilocybin as part of the practicum

Expenses: Students are responsible for their own travel, lodging, meals, and related costs

This program is offered by AAA Learning Institute, an approved postsecondary education provider.
Program completion satisfies the educational training requirement for Oregon psilocybin facilitator licensure but does not guarantee licensure, employment, or certification.
Licensure decisions are made solely by the Oregon Health Authority.
