Psilocybin Facilitator Practicum Experience
Students complete a supervised practicum experience at a licensed Oregon psilocybin service center. During this phase, students actively develop real-world facilitator skills. Specifically, they support preparation sessions, observe administration sessions, and participate in integration support activities within their professional scope.
Practicum Structure
Students complete a minimum of 40 hours of supervised practicum training. In addition, qualified practicum instructors provide structured guidance and performance feedback throughout the experience.
After receiving an Oregon Psilocybin Services worker permit, students schedule practicum participation directly with the approved service center. Therefore, scheduling flexibility depends on service-center availability, supervisor capacity, and client session timing.
Students remain responsible for their own travel, lodging, and meal arrangements during practicum participation.
Practicum Completion Requirements
To complete practicum successfully, students must demonstrate professional competency and meet supervisor expectations. For example, students must:
- Participate in supervised preparation, administration-support, and integration-support activities
- Demonstrate ethical and trauma-informed facilitator presence
- Maintain consistent safety awareness during client sessions
- Follow service-center operational procedures and professional conduct standards
- Maintain clear facilitator scope-of-practice boundaries
- Engage in professional consultation and debrief discussions
- Complete non-clinical documentation and practicum time tracking
- Use non-directive communication during integration support
- Receive supervisor confirmation of competency development
Importantly, practicum completion depends on demonstrated competency and professional performance rather than attendance alone.
Documentation and Evaluation
Throughout practicum participation, students complete structured competency documentation. In turn, supervisors review student performance in safety awareness, ethical conduct, communication skills, and adherence to facilitator scope.
AAA Learning Institute maintains completed practicum records as part of each student’s permanent academic file. Consequently, the program supports regulatory recordkeeping standards for licensed career training programs.
Worker Permit Requirement
Before beginning practicum activities, students must obtain an Oregon Psilocybin Services worker permit. Furthermore, students must maintain valid permit status for the duration of practicum participation.
Students can review permit application instructions through the Oregon Health Authority website.
Scheduling Practicum
Once they receive their worker permit, students coordinate practicum scheduling directly with the service center. As a result, early scheduling helps support timely program completion and availability of supervisor oversight.
